Our God We Praise Thee

"Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise they glorious name. But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? For all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee." I Chronicles 29:13-14 KJV

We usually think about giving thanks to God this time of year more than other times. The people of God should always have praise on their lips.

Here in our text, King David is offering praise to God before the congregation of Israel. The building of the temple was put in the heart of David by God Almighty. David was allowed to gather the materials for the temple; however, Solomon was chosen by God to build the temple.

While Solomon was young and tender, David began gathering the materials for the house of God. The people of Israel offered their offerings out of a willing heart. So should we, as the redeemed, offer willingly praise to God. David rejoiced as he saw the people give.

He also gave out of his own goods. David asked God, who am I or this people to offer these things. God has given them the goods to begin with. So, it is with our praise to God, He is the giver of life and should be praised. We are unworthy to praise Him, but through the blood of Christ, we can offer a sacrifice of sweet smelling savor unto God.

So, let the redeemed of the Lord say so, now and throughout all eternity.

Amen.
